GodFlags announces expanding product line.

GodFlags, LLC, the premier supplier of GodFlags throughout the world, is proud to announce the expansion of its product line. Company spokesperson Dootome DooGooder had this to say; “We now offer a GodFlag for everyone on the planet, no matter their belief system.”

DooGooder was speaking at a news conference party held at HWY Acres, international headquarters of GodFlags, LLC. I went on to say, “Yeah, we made a tactical error when we first introduced the GodFlag over a year ago. We neglected to perceive the various niche markets available out there, and assumed that the one GodFlag offered would fit everybody. After months of seeing people run away from us, or ask ‘Whose God?,’ or ‘What God,’ and making similar confusing comments, we realized that we had missed the boat.”

After a night of deep meditation and heavy partying, the inspiration to expand the product line became an obvious one. It was written down so that it would be remembered in the morning, and then the new product line was born. DooGooder closed the sparsely attended news conference by speaking out loud to himself, saying “We now offer the Catholic GodFlag, the Baptist GodFlag, the Christian GodFlag, the Jewish GodFlag, the Hindu GodFlag, the Evangelical GodFlag, the Pagan GodFlag, the Muslim GodFlag, the Buddhist GodFlag. Hell, you name it, we got it. We even have the Atheist GodFlag, for those out there afraid to say yes to life.”

GFPost039 - GodSighting’s

GodFlag GodSightings…

…Each representing a Loving soul.  The word (God) is getting around.  We’ve given away well over five hundred GodFlags to date and I can imagine that sales will pick up during this holiday season.  I think the Godflag makes a great gift idea, of course, as I’ve seen the reaction of many when they first lay their eyes on the flag.  Outside of meeting and having great conversations with people about the God Flag, I also find great appreciation for the photograph’s people send (in) showing their GodFlags flying or on display.  A pronouncement, each GodSighting is.  A commitment exercised to one self while also offering a gentle reminder to those who see the flag that Love, not unlike or separate of God is universal.  Each of these flag bearer’s display their flag, all spreading the word God.  And to take the time to take a photograph and send in, well that too is an exercise in spreading the word God.  As each of these GodSighting’s are posted in the gallery as well as spread via the Internet and eCards.  So when they pass, no matter who they are or their spiritual beliefs or understanding, if asked what was made of their life while on earth, well they can all say they spread the word God, Loving all.

To come across a GodFlag flying some where you didn’t place it yourself, well that is always special.  On election day I ran into some neighbors at the polling place and explained that I was going to hang my GodFlag that was decorated with the Obama logo and some text espousing my appreciation for that particular candidate.  My neighbors ended up hanging their God Flag on their railing.  I found this touching, in that it wasn’t there before.  Until that moment at the polling station when we shared our views of hope, and then some time later that day their flag was hanging.  Wow, I was so pleased to see it and the gesture offered reassurance that my neighbors are indeed my brothers as well.  I just felt closer to them, which cannot be explained very well, but can be appreciated I’m sure.

GodFlag sightings arrive in my in-box every couple weeks.  Some of their God flags hanging on their houses, in their garages / shops, while others take their GodFlags with them while they are out an’ about.  The flag always seems to strike up conversations.  And in some cases conversation is required to eliminate preconceived views of its intent.  But in all, it is the peaceful exchanges that ease fears, as those who might think one thing about God, usually have a different perspective as they walk away realizing there is no threat, nothing to fear.  But mostly, each interaction is beautiful in its own way.  Doug came across this GodFlag driving to his friends house and he described how cool it was to see the flag there, out of nowhere.

I’m still looking for that GodSighting from Hoover Dam.  Near my birth place, I can envision someone standing on the dam while being photographed holding a GodFlag.  I want to call it “God Dam!”.  So if any of you find yourselves traveling to or fro Vegas, well get that picture, please!  There are some other interesting places to get a photo of your GodFlag, as I have shared with photo’s from the mountains and beachesof the states.  But we aren’t limited to the border and have a couple great shots from Europe and Asia.  So in your travels, tuck that GodFlag away in your suitcase and pull it out for a shot or two during your holiday’s.

The Flash animation below cycles through over 60 GodSightings.

I hope you all find some appreciation for others efforts in spreading the word God and find some time, if you have a GodFlag yourself, to send in a photograph.  Big thanks to those who have and for those who will, know that I appreciate the time and effort involved, it’s about commitment and I love you for it.

GFPost038 - A Quickie…Then back to work!

Man, I’m sure glad the election is over.  I was getting sick of hearing all the ads and political speak.  A few weeks ago, I got into an argument with one of my best friends over all this stuff.  It got pretty heavy for awhile, a humbling experience which served to remind me that we sometimes take our passions much too seriously, to the detriment of reasonableness.  We quickly “healed” this rift, and the memory of how bad I felt over it spurs me on to taking steps ensuring these “fights” do not happen again.  Or better yet, if they do happen again, at the least we know that healing them also becomes easier each time.

But yeah, I’m glad it’s over, and I look forward to the “hard work” ahead of us.  No matter who won, this election was no quick fix to the problems facing our country and the world.  As President-Elect Barack Obama has continued to remind us, now comes the hard part because we have to help.  Yet as my friend and I discovered after our argument, we have more in common than our passion filled fears would have us think.  Perhaps the same can be said for our country, and now comes the opportunity for us to realize these commonalities are what can impel us toward solutions.  We are all Americans, after all, and we are all human.  Together, our history has shown we can do anything if we set our minds to it.

Barack Obama will be our next President.  With a resounding victory, the President-Elect, along with the American people, have shown that democracy and freedom are beacons which inspire people throughout the world.  On a historic night, we the people of the United States have demonstrated that anything is possible and all barriers can be overcome.

We offer our congratulations to Mr. Obama and his running mate, Joe Biden, for their stunning victory.  We also congratulate John McCain and Sarah Palin for their service and dedication to our country.  It was a hard fought campaign, and one that  has done our country proud.

Finally, congratulations to the United States of America, for the shining example of how freedom and democracy truly do capture the imagination of the world.  Once again, we can be proud of ourselves for our system of governing.  God Bless America!

GFPost036 - We Voted!…Did you?

I Voted.

My stepson voted today. He turned eighteen in August and this is his first time to do so. We are all proud of him because he took it upon himself to participate in this experiment we call democracy. Good for you, son!

Today was the eighth presidential election I’ve voted in since turning eighteen in 1980. It is as exciting for me now as it was back then. Without a doubt, I’ll be glued to the TV set until late in the night, eager to see who wins. My wife voted today as well, her sixth presidential election.

The other half of GodFlags, Mike, also voted today. As did my stepdaughter, who cast her vote in Georgia where she goes to school. (Come to think of it, this is her first election too!)

Collectively, each one of us cast our vote for Barack Obama for President. Individually, and for reasons of our own, we all felt he was the better candidate. Personally, his message of hope and change resonates with my own vision for our country. We at GodFlags.com encourage all of you who live in America to vote today as well. It is the patriotic thing to do! We would love to hear who you voted for so please feel welcome to share. God Bless America!

GFPost035 - Godless ness in American Politics

    Forever mirrors now
         Gently searching
          across the stars
              whispers
             in silence…
         there are no faithless
             anywhere.
                         DJC, circa 2005

The word God has not popped up much in this election year. We have not heard many of the candidates using the word God in their candidacy platforms or in their stump speeches, other than the usual “God Bless America” platitudes. It sure does seem, though, that this election year is boiling down to the candidates exhibiting the most substance as being the ones ahead in the polls leading up to election day. Mudslinging and judgmental campaigns seem to be withering under the scrutiny of a populace which appears focused on ways out of finger pointing and into solutions to our problems. (more…)

GFPost034 - A White flag, a gift and a prayer

We are continuously searching the Internet for references to GodFlags, as well as other interesting tidbits relating to God and flags together. A few weeks ago, Mike came across a touching blog written by “KITESONG,” a young lady who lives in Singapore. In this blog, she discussed the differing flags used by each country and the meaning each may represent to various people’s around the world. KITESONG also talked about her own “inner” flag she waved, a white flag of surrender in the face of mounting pressures which seem to build as we struggle to get by in a sometimes scary world. To her, the white flag represented her own “surrender” to God and the potential sense of peace such a surrendering offers.

We were so moved by her blog that we decided to offer her a GodFlag as a gift. She accepted our offer, so we sent out her flag and then promptly “forgot” about it. Keep in mind that we have given away hundreds of flags, and seldom do we hear back from the recipients. We did continue to monitor KITESONG’s blog, however, because we enjoyed her easy style of writing along with her spiritual approach to life. Her gentle nature comes through quite strongly in her words and are a pleasure to read.

”Time of month” by Tan Wai Jia

Below we are re-posting, with permission, a recent blog entry made by KITESONG regarding the moment she received her GodFlag. It is so inspiring to us that we feel it is worth sharing with our readers. The timing and synchronicity of it all, matched with KITESONG’s endearing words, exemplify the essence of why we choose to spread the word God in the first place. Thank you, KITESONG, for sharing your story with us. And thank you, God, for reminding us that the timing of such things is beyond our depth of understanding and yet still serves to inspire us with how very perfect  such timing can be. The power of prayer can be stunning when answered in such “miraculous” ways… (more…)

GFPost032 - “On the road again”…The Blue Ridge Parkway Part 2

Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina

Times are a changin’…

…which was apparent throughout this trip in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina.  After spending a week and a half traveling from the “foot hills” of the Pisgah Forest, a weekend in the Smoky Mountains and driving the entire length of the Blue Ridge Parkway going from town to town for work, I was blessed to witness this transition to Fall and am so thankful for this opportunity.

I was last here in August of ‘06, it being the middle of summer the landscape was rich with green foliage and warm air.  I couldn’t have imagined that Fall would bring another level of beauty to the very same sights I fell in love with then.  Each view now took on a whole new look, as the color pallet expanded into reds and yellows that were set off by the deep blue skies.  I’ve painted my entire life, but to mimic the sights I’ve seen would test even the most talented artist’s ability to capture the beauty and sense of calm each view offers. Unfortunately my time in the Smoky Mountains came to an end on Columbus Day.  My scheduled inspections for the rest of the week are all located on the north end of the Blue Ridge Parkway just south of the Virginia border.  I traveled several miles on this two lane road that hugs the (mostly) East side of the mountains.  There are several “overlooks” with some breathtaking sights, it was difficult not to stop at all of them to capture the beauty each offered.  While at the lake shown above, I overheard someone say “you can’t paint pictures this beautiful.”  I’d have to agree.
